In March 2019, a team from Refugees International travelled to Ethiopia to look at this neglected displacement crisis. The team held meetings with international and local humanitarian organizations; UN representatives; and U.S. and Ethiopian government officials in Jijiga and Addis Ababa. They also interviewed drought IDPs in the Somali region, visiting four IDP sites in and around Dire Dawa and Gode. After returning from Ethiopia, the team conducted further research that has been incorporated into its analysis, which focuses on the needs of the specific drought IDP population in the Somali region.
